✧ The Prophet ﷺ sent a man from Banu Makhzum to collect the zakat. He said: "Will you not accompany me so that you may get something?" He said: I said: "Until I mention that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So I mentioned that to him, and he said: "Indeed we—the family of Muhammad—charity is not lawful for us. And indeed the freedman of a people is one of them."

machine translationAl-Ḥakam narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Shuʿbah narrated it from al-Ḥakam, from Ibn Abī Rāfiʿ, from his father. ʿAmr b. Marzūq said, from Shuʿbah, the same; and likewise Usāmah said, from Shuʿbah. But al-Ḥajjāj b. Arṭāh said, from al-Ḥakam, that Abū Rāfiʿ asked the Prophet ﷺ for something of the charity (ṣadaqah), and he said: "It is not lawful for the Prophet ﷺ, nor for any of his family, nor for their freed slaves." So it would be mursal (with the Companion omitted from the chain).
