✧ When Fatimah gave birth to Hasan, she said: "Shall I not perform an 'aqiqah for my son with blood?" He said: "No, but shave his head, then give in charity the weight of his hair in silver to the poor or to the Ahl al-Suffah." The Ahl al-Suffah were people among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who were needy in the mosque—or in the suffah. Abu al-Nadr said: "from silver to the Ahl al-Suffah—meaning the people of the suffah—or to the poor." So I did that. She said: When I gave birth to Husayn, I did the same.
