حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهِ حَمْنَةَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ قَالَتْ
أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: إِنِّي قَدِ اسْتُحِضْتُ حَيْضَةً مُنْكَرَةً شَدِيدَةً فَقَالَ: احْتَشِي كُرْسُفًا. قُلْتُ: إِنَّهُ أَشَدُّ مِنْ ذَاكَ، إِنِّي أَثُجُّهُ ثَجًّا قَالَ: تَلَجَّمِي، وَتَحَيَّضِي فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ فِي عِلْمِ اللهِ سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ سَبْعَةَ أَيَّامٍ. ثُمَّ اغْتَسِلِي غُسْلًا وَصُومِي وَصَلِّي ثَلَاثًا وَعِشْرِينَ أَوْ أَرْبَعًا وَعِشْرِينَ، وَاغْتَسِلِي لِلْفَجْرِ غُسْلًا. وَأَخِّرِي الظُّهْرَ، وَعَجِّلِي الْعَصْرَ. وَاغْتَسِلِي غُسْلًا، وَأَخِّرِي الْمَغْرِبَ، وَعَجِّلِي الْعِشَاءَ. وَاغْتَسِلِي غُسْلًا، وَهَذَا أَحَبُّ الْأَمْرَيْنِ إِلَيَّ

✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "I have been afflicted with severe, irregular bleeding, a prolonged and intense menstruation." He said: "Use a piece of cotton." I said: "It is more than that; I flow profusely." He said: "Use a cloth (as a loincloth), and count your menstruation each month according to God's knowledge as six or seven days. Then perform a full bath, fast, and pray for twenty-three or twenty-four days. Perform a full bath for the dawn prayer. Delay the noon prayer and hasten the afternoon prayer, then perform a full bath. Delay the sunset prayer and hasten the night prayer, then perform a full bath. This is the more beloved of the two options to me."
