✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in i'tikaf, and I came to visit him at night and spoke with him. Then I got up to leave, and he got up with me to accompany me back—her dwelling was in the house of Usamah b. Zayd—when two men of the Ansar passed by. When they saw the Prophet ﷺ they hastened. The Prophet ﷺ said: Take your time. She is Safiyyah bt. Huyayy. They said: Glory be to Allah, O Messenger of Allah! He said: Satan runs through the human being like blood runs, and I feared that he might cast evil—or he said: something—into your hearts.

machine translationAl-Zuhrī narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Maʿmar, Shuʿayb b. Abī Ḥamzah, ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Isḥāq and al-Jarrāḥ b. Minhāl narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn, from Ṣafiyyah. Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn as a mursal report (mursal), and the connected (muttaṣil) version is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ).
