✧ A man came to Ibn ʿAbbās and said, “O Ibn ʿAbbās, what do you think about a man who kills a believer?” He said, “Ibn ʿAbbās said: ‘His recompense is Hell, abiding therein’ to the end of the verse.” He said, “O Ibn ʿAbbās, what if he repents, believes, and does righteous deeds?” He said, “May his mother be bereaved of him! How can repentance be possible for him when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘The slain person will come on the Day of Resurrection holding his head with his right hand—or he said, with his left—seizing his killer with his other hand, his jugular veins gushing blood before the Throne of the Most Merciful, saying: Lord, ask this one why he killed me.’”
