حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَزِيدَ الْعَطَّارَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ

أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَسَقَتْهُ قَدَحًا مِنْ سَوِيقٍ. فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَمَضْمَضَ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: يَا ابْنَ أَخِي، أَلَا تَتَوَضَّأُ ؟ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ - أَوْ غَيَّرَتْ -

Translation

✧ He entered upon Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, and she gave him a cup of sawiq to drink. He called for water and rinsed his mouth. She said to him, "O son of my brother, will you not perform wudu'? For the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Perform wudu' from what the fire has touched'—or 'changed.'"
