حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ أُسَامَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ

قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَلْ لِي مِنْ أَجْرٍ فِي بَنِي أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنْ أُنْفِقَ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَلَسْتُ بِتَارِكَتِهِمْ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا، إِنَّمَا هُمْ بَنِيَّ ! قَالَ: نَعَمْ. لَكِ فِيهِمْ أَجْرٌ مَا أَنْفَقْتِ عَلَيْهِمْ

Translation

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, is there any reward for me in the children of Abu Salamah if I spend on them, for I am not going to abandon them like this and like this; they are only my children! He said: Yes. You will have a reward in them as long as you spend on them.
