✧ By the One I swear by, ‘Ali was indeed the closest of people in covenant with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: We visited the Messenger of Allah ﷺ morning after morning, and he kept saying: ‘Has ‘Ali come?’—several times. She said: I think he had sent him on an errand. She said: He came later, and I thought he had a need with him, so we left the house and sat by the door, and I was the nearest of them to the door. ‘Ali leaned over him and began to whisper to him and converse privately with him. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away on that same day, so he was the closest of people to him in covenant.
