حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ
جَاءَتْ أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَلْ لَكَ فِي أُخْتِي ؟ قَالَ: فَأَصْنَعُ بِهَا مَاذَا ؟ قَالَتْ: تَزَوَّجُهَا. فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: وَتُحِبِّينَ ذَلِكَ ؟ فَقَالَتْ: نَعَمْ. لَسْتُ لَكَ بِمُخْلِيَةٍ، وَأَحَقُّ مَنْ شَرِكَنِي فِي خَيْرٍ أُخْتِي. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّهَا لَا تَحِلُّ لِي. قَالَتْ: فَوَاللهِ لَقَدْ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ تَخْطُبُ دُرَّةَ ابْنَةَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ! فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَوْ كَانَتْ تَحِلُّ لِي لَمَا تَزَوَّجْتُهَا، قَدْ أَرْضَعَتْنِي وَأَبَاهَا ثُوَيْبَةُ مَوْلَاةُ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ. فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ، وَلَا بَنَاتِكُنَّ

✧ Umm Habibah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do you have any interest in my sister?' He said: 'What would I do with her?' She said: 'Marry her.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: 'Would you like that?' She said: 'Yes. I am not one to keep you to myself, and the most deserving of sharing good with me is my sister.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'She is not lawful for me.' She said: 'By Allah, I have heard that you are seeking Durrah the daughter of Umm Salamah, the daughter of Abu Salamah!' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Even if she were lawful for me, I would not marry her, for Thuwaybah, the freedwoman of Banu Hashim, suckled me and her father. So do not offer me your sisters or your daughters.'

يرويه هشام بن عروة واختلف عنه فرواه عبد الله بن نمير ومحمد بن بشر عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه عن زينب بنت أم سلمة عن أم سلمة عن أم حبيبة قال ذلك شعيب بن أيوب عن ابن نمير وخالفه سليمان بن الحسن أخو المقتصد فرواه عن ابن نمير عن هشام بهذا وقال فيه عن أم سلمة عن أم حبيبة قالت يا رسول الله وكذلك رواه أبو معاوية الضرير ومالك بن سعير وعلي بن غراب واختلف عن أبي أسامة فرواه أبو مسعود أحمد بن الفرات عنه عن هشام كذلك وغيره لا يذكر فيه أم سلمة قال عن أبي أسامة عن هشام عن أبيه عن زينب عن أم حبيبة وكذلك قال ابن عيينة وحماد بن زيد وابن جريج والمفضل بن فضالة ومحاضر ابن المورع وأنس بن عياض رووه عن هشام عن أبيه عن زينب أن أم حبيبة قالت يا رسول الله ورواه جرير بن عبد الحميد عن هشام عن أبيه قال قالت أم حبيبة لم يذكر زينبا ولا أم سلمة ورواه الزهري عن عروة عن زينب أن أم حبيبة ولم يذكر أم سلمة وكذلك رواه أبو الزناد عن عروة وكذلك رواه يزيد بن أبي حبيب عن عراك بن مالك عن زينب عن أم حبيبة لم يذكروا فيه أم سلمة والمحفوظ عن هشام عن أبيه عن زينب عن أم سلمة أن أم حبيبة
machine translationHishām b. ʿUrwah narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. ʿAbdullāh b. Numayr and Muḥammad b. Bishr narrated it from Hishām b. ʿUrwah, from his father, from Zaynab bint Umm Salamah, from Umm Salamah, from Umm Ḥabībah. Shuʿayb b. Ayyūb said that from Ibn Numayr. Sulaymān b. al-Ḥasan, the brother of al-Muqtaṣid, differed from him and narrated it from Ibn Numayr, from Hishām in this way, and he said in it: from Umm Salamah, from Umm Ḥabībah, who said: "O Messenger of God." Abū Muʿāwiyah al-Ḍarīr, Mālik b. Suʿayr and ʿAlī b. Ghurāb narrated it likewise. There is disagreement about Abū Usāmah: Abū Masʿūd Aḥmad b. al-Furāt narrated it from him, from Hishām, in the same way, while others do not mention Umm Salamah in it, saying: from Abū Usāmah, from Hishām, from his father, from Zaynab, from Umm Ḥabībah. Likewise said Ibn ʿUyaynah, Ḥammād b. Zayd, Ibn Jurayj, al-Mufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah, Muḥāḍir b. al-Muwarriʿ and Anas b. ʿIyāḍ; they narrated it from Hishām, from his father, from Zaynab, that Umm Ḥabībah said: "O Messenger of God." Jarīr b. ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd narrated it from Hishām, from his father, who said: Umm Ḥabībah said; he did not mention Zaynab or Umm Salamah. Al-Zuhrī narrated it from ʿUrwah, from Zaynab, that Umm Ḥabībah, and did not mention Umm Salamah. Abū l-Zinād narrated it likewise from ʿUrwah. Yazīd b. Abī Ḥabīb also narrated it likewise from ʿIrāk b. Mālik, from Zaynab, from Umm Ḥabībah; they did not mention Umm Salamah in it. The preserved (maḥfūẓ) version from Hishām is: from his father, from Zaynab, from Umm Salamah, that Umm Ḥabībah.
