✧ We set out with the Messenger of God ﷺ, and we did not mention anything except Hajj. When we arrived at Sarif, I menstruated. The Messenger of God ﷺ entered upon me while I was crying, and he said: "What makes you cry?" I said: "I wish I had not come out this year!" He said: "Perhaps you have menstruated!" meaning you have had your period. She said: I said: "Yes." He said: "This is something God [Mighty and Majestic] has decreed for the daughters of Adam, so do what the pilgrim does, except do not circumambulate the House until you become pure." When we arrived in Makkah, the Messenger of God ﷺ said to his companions: "Make it an Umrah." So the people exited ihram, except those who had sacrificial animals with them. The sacrificial animal was with the Messenger of God ﷺ and Abu Bakr and Umar and those of means. She said: "Then they proceeded declaring the talbiyah for Hajj. When it was the Day of Sacrifice, I became pure, and the Messenger of God ﷺ sent me, and I performed Ifadah — meaning I circumambulated." She said: "We were brought beef, and I said: 'What is this?' They said: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ slaughtered cows on behalf of his wives.'" She said: "When it was the night of Hasbah, I said: 'O Messenger of God, the people are returning with both Hajj and Umrah, while I return with Hajj only!' So he ordered Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakr, and he seated me behind him on his camel." She said: "I remember, when I was a young girl, that I would doze off, and the rear of the saddle would strike my face until he brought me to Tan'im. Then I entered ihram for Umrah as a compensation for the Umrah that the people had performed."

machine translationSomeone else claimed that this is a mistake on the part of ʿUrwah, and that the correct version is the narration of al-Aswad, al-Qāsim and ʿAmrah from her, that she entered the state of iḥrām for Ḥajj alone (ifrād).

machine translationThe hadiths of ʿĀʾishah, may God the Exalted be pleased with her, on this topic are extremely inconsistent (muḍṭarib), and no evidence can be established through them. And he said: all of them are sound (ṣaḥīḥ).
