✧ Salma, the freedwoman of the Messenger of God ﷺ — the wife of Abu Rafi', the freedman of the Messenger of God ﷺ — came to the Messenger of God ﷺ complaining to him about Abu Rafi' having struck her. She said: "The Messenger of God ﷺ said to Abu Rafi': 'What is it between you and her, O Abu Rafi'?' He said: 'She bothers me, O Messenger of God.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'How did you bother him, O Salma?' She said: 'O Messenger of God, I did not bother him with anything, but he broke wind while he was praying, and I said to him: O Abu Rafi', the Messenger of God ﷺ has commanded the Muslims that if one of them passes wind, he should perform ablution. So he got up and struck me.' The Messenger of God ﷺ started laughing and said: 'O Abu Rafi', she did not command you except with good.'"
