✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ bought from a man of the Bedouins a slaughtered camel—or camels—for a wasq of dried dates of al-dhukhrah, and the dates of al-dhukhrah are the 'ajwah. The Messenger of God ﷺ returned with it to his house and looked for the dates for him but did not find them. The Messenger of God ﷺ went out to him and said: 'O servant of God, we bought from you a slaughtered camel—or camels—for a wasq of dried dates of al-dhukhrah, but we looked for it and did not find it.' He said: The Bedouin said: 'What a betrayal!' She said: The people rebuked him and said: 'May God fight you! Would you accuse the Messenger of God ﷺ of betrayal?' She said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Leave him, for the one who has a right has a say.' Then the Messenger of God ﷺ repeated to him: 'O servant of God, we bought your camels while we thought that we had what we named to you, but we looked for it and did not find it.' The Bedouin said: 'What a betrayal!' The people rebuked him and said: 'May God fight you! Would you accuse the Messenger of God ﷺ of betrayal?' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Leave him, for the one who has a right has a say.' The Messenger of God ﷺ repeated that two or three times. When he saw that he did not understand, he said to a man among his companions: 'Go to Khuwaylah bint Hakim b. Umayyah and say to her: The Messenger of God says to you: If you have a wasq of dried dates of al-dhukhrah, lend it to us until we repay you, God willing.' The man went to her, then returned and said: 'She said: Yes, it is with me, O Messenger of God, so send someone to receive it.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said to the man: 'Go with it and pay him what he is owed.' He said: He went with it and paid him what he was owed. She said: The Bedouin passed by the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was sitting among his companions and said: 'May God reward you well, for you have paid in full and been gracious.' She said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Those are the best of God's servants with God on the Day of Resurrection: those who pay in full and are gracious.'
