✧ The Prophet of Allah ﷺ came to me and said: 'I am going to present a matter to you, but do not hasten until you consult your parents.' I said: 'What is this matter?' She said: He recited to me: 'O Prophet, say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and release you with a kind release. But if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter, then indeed Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward.' She said: I said: 'In which of these do you command me to consult my parents? Rather, I desire Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter.' She said: The Prophet ﷺ was pleased with that and it impressed him, and he said: 'I will present to your companions what I presented to you.' So he said to them as he said to Aisha, then he said: 'Aisha has chosen Allah and His Messenger and the abode of the Hereafter.' Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave us the choice, and we did not consider that a divorce.
