✧ I entered upon Aisha, and Hafsa bint Umar was with her. She said to me: 'This is Hafsa, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ.' Then she turned to her and said: 'I adjure you by Allah, do not affirm me in a lie I told, or deny me in a truth I told. You know that you and I were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he fell unconscious. I said to you: "Do you think he has passed away?" You said: "I do not know." Then he regained consciousness and said: "Open the door for him." Then he fell unconscious again. I said to you: "Do you think he has passed away?" You said: "I do not know." Then he regained consciousness and said: "Open the door for him." I said to you: "My father or your father?" You said: "I do not know." So we opened the door, and there was Uthman b. Affan. When the Prophet ﷺ saw him, he said: "Come closer." So he leaned over him, and he whispered something to him that neither you nor I know. Then he raised his head and said: "Did you understand what I told you?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Come closer." So he leaned over him again, and he whispered something to him that we do not know. Then he raised his head and said: "Did you understand what I told you?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Come closer." So he leaned over him closely, and he whispered something to him. Then he raised his head and said: "Did you understand what I told you?" He said: "Yes. My ears heard it, and my heart comprehended it." Then he said to him: "Leave." He said: Hafsa said: "By Allah, yes." (Or she said: "By Allah, it is true.")
