حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَرْمَلَةَ الْمِصْرِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِمَاسَةَ الْمَهْرِيِّ قَالَ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَتْ: مَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ. فَذَكَرَ قِصَّةً، فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ أُمَّتِي شَيْئًا فَرَفَقَ بِهِمْ فَارْفُقْ بِهِ، وَمَنْ شَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَاشْقُقْ عَلَيْهِ

Translation

✧ I entered upon Aishah, and she said: 'Who are you?' I said: 'I am a man from Egypt.' Then he mentioned a story, and she said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: O Allah, whoever is given any authority over my Ummah and is kind to them, be kind to him; and whoever is harsh with them, be harsh with him.'
