✧ I used to trade to Syria—or to Egypt—. He said: Then I prepared to go to Iraq. I entered upon Aishah, the Mother of the Believers, and said: 'O Mother of the Believers, I have prepared to go to Iraq!' She said: 'What is wrong with you and your trade? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: If one of you has provision in something, let him not leave it until it changes for him—or becomes disagreeable to him—.' So I went to Iraq, then entered upon her and said: 'O Mother of the Believers, by Allah, I did not even recover the capital!' She repeated the hadith to him—or she said: 'The hadith is as I narrated to you.'
