✧ The wife of Uthman b. Maz'un — I think her name was Khawlah bt. Hakim — entered upon Aishah, and she was disheveled in appearance. Aishah asked her, "What is the matter with you?" She said, "My husband stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day." Then the Prophet ﷺ entered, and Aishah mentioned that to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ met Uthman and said, "O Uthman, monasticism has not been prescribed for us. Is there not for you an example in me? By Allah, indeed the most fearful of you of Allah and the most mindful of you of His limits [am I]."
