حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللهِ ﷻ أَحَبَّ اللهُ لِقَاءَهُ وَمَنْ كَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللهِ ﷻ كَرِهَ اللهُ لِقَاءَهُ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَرَاهِيَةُ لِقَاءِ اللهِ أَنْ يَكْرَهَ الْمَوْتَ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّا لَنَكْرَهُهُ فَقَالَ لَا لَيْسَ بِذَاكَ وَلَكِنَّ الْعَبْدَ الْمُؤْمِنَ إِذَا قَضَى الله ﷻ قَبْضَهُ فَرَّجَ لَهُ عَمَّا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ ثَوَابِ اللهِ ﷻ وَكَرَامَتِهِ فَيَمُوتُ حِينَ يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ يُحِبُّ لِقَاءَ اللهِ ﷻ وَاللهُ يُحِبُّ لِقَاءَهُ وَإِنَّ الْكَافِرَ وَالْمُنَافِقَ إِذَا قَضَى الله عَزَّوَجَلَّ قَبْضَهُ فَرَّجَ لَهُ عَمَّا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ ﷻ وَهَوَانِهِ فَيَمُوتُ حِينَ يَمُوتُ وَهُوَ يَكْرَهُ لِقَاءَ اللهِ وَاللهُ يَكْرَهُ لِقَاءَهُ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him.' So 'A'ishah said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is hating to meet Allah that one hates death? For by Allah, we do hate it.' He said: 'No, it is not that. But when Allah decrees to take the soul of a believing servant, He opens before him the reward and honor from Allah, and he dies while loving to meet Allah, and Allah loves to meet him. And when Allah, Mighty and Majestic, decrees to take the soul of a disbeliever or a hypocrite, He opens before him the punishment and humiliation from Allah, and he dies while hating to meet Allah, and Allah hates to meet him.'
