✧ Aishah said to Ibn Abi al-Sa'ib, the storyteller of the people of Madinah: Three things you will either agree with me on or I will confront you. He said: What are they? Rather, I agree with you, O Mother of the Believers. She said: Avoid rhymed prose in supplication, for the Messenger of God ﷺ and his Companions did not do that. Isma'il said once: She said: I knew the Messenger of God ﷺ and his Companions while they did not do that. And tell stories to the people once every Friday; if you refuse, then twice; if you refuse, then thrice, and do not make the people weary of this Book. And I should not find you coming to a people while they are engaged in some of their conversation and cutting off their talk; rather, leave them, and if they urge you to it and command you, then narrate to them.
