حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

كَانَتِ الْحَبَشَةُ يَلْعَبُونَ يَوْمَ عِيدٍ، فَدَعَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَكُنْتُ أَطَّلِعُ مِنْ عَاتِقِهِ فَأَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ، فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: دَعْهَا فَإِنَّ لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ عِيدًا، وَهَذَا عِيدُنَا.

Translation

✧ The Abyssinians were playing on a festival day, and the Messenger of God ﷺ called me, and I would look over his shoulder to watch them. Then Abu Bakr came, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Leave her, for every people has a festival, and this is our festival."
