حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي وَجَعِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ: مَا فَعَلَتِ الذَّهَبُ ؟ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: هِيَ عِنْدِي، قَالَ: ائْتِينِي بِهَا فَجِئْتُ بِهَا وَهِيَ بَيْنَ التِّسْعِ وَالْخَمْسِ، فَوَضَعَهَا فِي يَدِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: بِهَا وَأَشَارَ يَزِيدُ بِيَدِهِ مَا ظَنُّ مُحَمَّدٍ بِاللهِ، لَوْ لَقِيَ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَهَذِهِ عِنْدَهُ ؟ أَنْفِقِيهَا.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during his illness in which he died, “What happened to the gold?” She said, “I said, ‘It is with me.’ He said, ‘Bring it to me.’ So I brought it, and it was between nine and five [coins]. He placed it in his hand, then said—and Yazid gestured with his hand—‘What does Muhammad think of Allah, if he meets Allah, Mighty and Majestic, with this still in his possession? Spend it.’”
