✧ I sat with Ibn Abbas while he was reclining on his cloak at the well of Zamzam. I sat with him, and he was an excellent companion. I asked him about Ashura. He said: About which aspect of it do you ask? I said: About its fasting. He said: When you see the crescent of Muharram, count, and when you wake on its ninth day, fast that day. I said: Is this how Muhammad ﷺ used to fast it? He said: Yes.
