حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ أَوْ غَيْرِهِأَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

مَا كَانَ خُلُقٌ أَبْغَضَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ، وَلَقَدْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَكْذِبُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْكَذِبَةَ، فَمَا يَزَالُ فِي نَفْسِهِ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَحْدَثَ مِنْهَا تَوْبَةً.

Translation

✧ There was no trait more hateful to the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than lying. A man would tell a lie in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and it would remain in his heart against him until he knew that he had repented of it.
