✧ Asma asked the Prophet ﷺ about the bath after menstruation. He said: One of you takes her water and her lote-tree leaves and purifies herself, performing purification well. Then she pours water over her head and rubs it vigorously until it reaches the roots of her hair, then pours water over herself. Then she takes a piece of cloth perfumed with musk and purifies herself with it. Asma said: How does she purify herself with it? He said: Glory be to Allah, purify yourself with it. Aishah said, as if she was hiding that: Follow the traces of blood with it. She also asked him about the bath after major ritual impurity. He said: You take your water and purify yourself, performing purification well, or: complete the purification, then pour water over her head and rub it until it reaches the roots of her hair, then pour water over herself. Aishah said: How excellent are the women of the Ansar! Shyness did not prevent them from gaining understanding in religion.

machine translationThe aḥādīth of Ibrāhīm b. Muhājir are acceptable (ṣāliḥah); some of them support others, and his ḥadīth is to be written down among the weak narrators (ḍuʿafāʾ).

machine translationIbrāhīm b. Muhājir narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Al-Aʿmash and al-Thawrī narrated it from Ibrāhīm b. Muhājir, from Ṣafiyyah bt. Shaybah, from ʿĀʾishah. Al-Layth said: from Ibrāhīm b. Muhājir, from Mujāhid or someone else, from ʿĀʾishah. The sound (ṣaḥīḥ) view is the statement of those who said: from Ṣafiyyah bt. Shaybah, from ʿĀʾishah.

machine translationThe wording "she should rub it vigorously until the water reaches the roots of her hair" was brought by Ibrāhīm b. al-Muhājir, who is not strong (laysa bi-qawī). Muslim recorded him in the corroborating reports (al-mutābaʿāt).
