حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ لَهُ
يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي، لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ مِنْ تَعْظِيمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَمَّهُ أَمْرًا عَجِيبًا، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَتْ تَأْخُذُهُ الْخَاصِرَةُ فَتَشْتَدُّ بِهِ جِدًّا، فَكُنَّا نَقُولُ: أَخَذَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عِرْقُ الْكُلْيَةِ، لَا نَهْتَدِي أَنْ نَقُولَ: الْخَاصِرَةَ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا، فَاشْتَدَّتْ بِهِ جِدًّا حَتَّى أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ، وَخِفْنَا عَلَيْهِ، وَفَزِعَ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ، فَظَنَنَّا أَنَّ بِهِ ذَاتَ الْجَنْبِ، فَلَدَدْنَاهُ، ثُمَّ سُرِّيَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَأَفَاقَ فَعَرَفَ أَنَّهُ قَدْ لُدَّ، وَوَجَدَ أَثَرَ اللَّدُودِ، فَقَالَ: ظَنَنْتُمْ أَنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ سَلَّطَهَا عَلَيَّ، مَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيُسَلِّطَهَا عَلَيَّ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا يَبْقَى فِي الْبَيْتِ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا لُدَّ إِلَّا عَمِّي, فَرَأَيْتُهُمْ يَلُدُّونَهُمْ رَجُلًا رَجُلًا. قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: وَمَنْ فِي الْبَيْتِ يَوْمَئِذٍ، فَتَذْكُرُ فَضْلَهُمْ، فَلُدَّ الرِّجَالُ أَجْمَعُونَ، وَبَلَغَ اللَّدُودُ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَلُدِدْنَ امْرَأَةً امْرَأَةً, حَتَّى بَلَغَ اللَّدُودُ امْرَأَةً مِنَّا, - قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ: لَا أَعْلَمُهَا إِلَّا مَيْمُونَةَ, قَالَ: وَقَالَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ: أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ - قَالَتْ: إِنِّي وَاللهِ صَائِمَةٌ, فَقُلْنَا: بِئْسَمَا ظَنَنْتِ أَنْ نَتْرُكَكِ، وَقَدْ أَقْسَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَدَدْنَاهَا، وَاللهِ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي وَإِنَّهَا لَصَائِمَةٌ

✧ O son of my sister, I saw an amazing thing in the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ honoring of his uncle. That is because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to suffer from pleurisy, and it would become very severe for him. We used to say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has been seized by the kidney vein, not guiding ourselves to say: pleurisy. Then one day it seized the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and became very severe for him until he fainted, and we feared for him, and the people were alarmed and came to him. We thought he had pleurisy, so we gave him an oral medicine. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was relieved and regained consciousness, and he realized that he had been given oral medicine and found its trace. He said: Did you think that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, gave it power over me? Allah would not give it power over me. By the One in whose hand is my soul, no one in the house will remain without being given oral medicine except my uncle. So I saw them giving it to them man by man. Aishah said: And who was in the house that day? She mentioned their virtues. So all the men were given oral medicine, and the medicine reached the wives of the Prophet ﷺ, and they were given it woman by woman, until the medicine reached a woman among us - Ibn Abi al-Zinad said: I do not know her except Maymunah; some people said: Umm Salamah - She said: By Allah, I am fasting. We said: How bad you think that we would leave you when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sworn? So we gave her the medicine. By Allah, O son of my sister, she was indeed fasting.
