✧ I asked al-Aswad b. Yazid about what 'A'ishah narrated to him regarding the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: He would sleep at the beginning of the night and stay awake at its end. Then if he had a need for his wife, he would fulfill it, then sleep before touching water. When the first call to prayer came, she said, he would leap up—and by Allah, she did not say 'get up'—and pour water over himself—and by Allah, she did not say 'perform ghusl,' and I know better what she meant—and if he was not in a state of janabah, he would perform wudu like a man's wudu for prayer, then pray the two rak'ahs.
