حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ
قُلْتُ: يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، حَدِّثِينِي عَنْ خُلُقِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَتْ: أَلَسْتَ تَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ ؟ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: بَلَى. فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، قَالَتْ: وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى صَلَاةً دَاوَمَ عَلَيْهَا، وَكَانَ إِذَا فَاتَهُ الْقِيَامُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ غَلَبَتْهُ عَيْنَاهُ بِنَوْمٍ أَوْ وَجَعٍ، صَلَّى ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً مِنَ النَّهَارِ. قَالَتْ: وَلَمْ يَقُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْلَةً يُتِمُّهَا حَتَّى الصَّبَاحِ، وَلَمْ يَقْرَإِ الْقُرْآنَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ يُتِمُّهُ، وَلَمْ يَصُمْ شَهْرًا يُتِمُّهُ غَيْرَ رَمَضَانَ حَتَّى مَاتَ
Translation

✧ I said: 'O Mother of the Believers, tell me about the character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' She said: 'Do you not recite the Qur'an?' He said: I said: 'Yes.' Then he mentioned the hadith. She said: 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed a prayer, he would persist in it. If he missed the night prayer because sleep or pain overcame his eyes, he would pray twelve rak'ahs during the day.' She said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never stood for an entire night until morning, never recited the entire Qur'an in one night, and never fasted an entire month except Ramadan until he died.'
