حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِعَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

فَزِعْتُ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ، وَفَقَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَدَدْتُ يَدِي، فَوَقَعَتْ عَلَى قَدَمَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَهُمَا مُنْتَصِبَتَانِ، وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ، لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ، أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ.

✧ I was startled one night and could not find the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I reached out my hand and it fell upon the feet of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and they were upright, and he was prostrating, saying: 'I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and I seek refuge in Your pardon from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You. I cannot enumerate praise upon You; You are as You have praised Yourself.'
