Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Call for me some of my companions.' I said, 'Abu Bakr?' He said, 'No.' I said, 'Umar?' He said, 'No.' I said, 'Your cousin Ali?' He said, 'No.' She said: I said, 'Uthman?' He said, 'Yes.' When he came, he said, 'Step aside.' He began to whisper to him, and Uthman's color was changing. When it was the day of the house and he was besieged in it, we said, 'O Commander of the Believers, will you not fight?' He said, 'No. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a covenant with me, and I am patient with myself upon it.'
