✧ I was a man who indulged with women in a way that no one else did. When the month of Ramadan entered, I feared [temptation] and kept away from my wife during the month. While she was serving me one night, something of her became revealed to me, and I did not hesitate but had intercourse with her. I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him. He said: 'Free a slave.' I said: 'By the One who sent you with the truth, I do not own any slave except my own self.' He said: 'Then fast two consecutive months.' I said: 'And has what happened to me not come about except because of fasting?' He said: 'Then feed sixty poor people.'
