✧ My father was one of the People of the Suffah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave orders concerning them, and a man would take away one man or two men, until I remained the fifth of five. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Go.' So we went with him to the house of 'A'ishah, and he said: 'O 'A'ishah, feed us.' She brought a coarse dish and we ate. Then she brought a small sweet dish like a grouse, and we ate. Then he said: 'O 'A'ishah, give us to drink.' She brought a large wooden cup and we drank. Then she brought a small cup with milk in it and we drank. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If you wish, you may stay the night, and if you wish, you may go to the mosque.' We said: 'No, rather we will go to the mosque.' He said: While I was in the mosque lying on my belly, a man poked me with his foot and said: 'This is a lying posture that Allah hates.' I looked, and it was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

machine translationThis hadith was narrated by Yaḥyā b. Abī Kathīr, and there is a long and wide-ranging disagreement about it from him – and he mentioned the disagreement. machine translationMuḥammad b. ʿAmr narrates it from Abū Salamah from Abū Hurayrah. That was said by Ḥammād b. Salamah, ʿĪsā b. Yūnus, al-Naḍr b. Shumayl, Abū Muʿāwiyah, ʿAbdah b. Sulaymān, al-Faḍl b. Mūsā al-Sīnānī, Shujāʿ b. al-Walīd and Muḥammad b. Bishr. Muʿtamir narrated it from Muḥammad b. ʿAmr from Abū Salamah as a mursal report from the Prophet ﷺ. Others narrate it from Abū Salamah from Ibn Ṭikhfah al-Ghifārī from his father, and that is the correct version. This hadith was also narrated from Muḥammad b. ʿAmr b. Ḥalḥalah from Muḥammad b. ʿAmr b. ʿAṭāʾ from Abū Hurayrah, and it was said that it is from him from ʿAṭāʾ from Abū Hurayrah, but it is not authentic from Abū Hurayrah. Rather, Muḥammad b. ʿAmr b. ʿAṭāʾ narrated it from Ibn Ṭikhfah as well.
