حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ يُخْبِرُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ
لَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ وَلَا بَوْلٍ، وَلَكِنْ شَرِّقُوا أَوْ غَرِّبُوا. قَالَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ: فَقَدِمْنَا الشَّامَ، فَوَجَدْنَا مَرَاحِيضَ جُعِلَتْ نَحْوَ الْقِبْلَةِ، فَنَنْحَرِفُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ.

✧ Do not face the qiblah with defecation or urination, but face east or west. Abu Ayyub said: We came to Syria and found latrines that had been built facing the qiblah, so we would turn aside and ask Allah's forgiveness.
