✧ I was with Ibn 'Abbas and al-Miswar at al-Abwa', and we talked until we mentioned washing the head of a pilgrim in ihram. Al-Miswar said no, and Ibn 'Abbas said yes. So Ibn 'Abbas sent me to Abu Ayyub: 'Your nephew 'Abdullah b. 'Abbas sends you greetings of peace, and he asks you how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wash his head while in ihram.' He said: I found him bathing between the two upright posts of a well, screened with a cloth. When he became aware of me, he pulled the cloth to his chest until his face became visible to me, and I saw him while a person stood pouring water over his head. He said: Abu Ayyub gestured with his hands over his entire head, and he moved them forward and back. Then al-Miswar said to Ibn 'Abbas: I will never dispute with you again.
