حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّالَانِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ الْأَوْدِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ الدَّاعِيَانِ فَأَجِبْ أَقْرَبَهُمَا بَابًا، فَإِنَّ أَقْرَبَهُمَا بَابًا أَقْرَبُهُمَا جِوَارًا، فَإِذَا سَبَقَ أَحَدُهُمَا فَأَجِبِ الَّذِي سَبَقَ

Translation

  2. Yazīd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman al-Dālānī
  3. Abū al-ʿAlāʾ al-Awdī
  4. Ḥumayd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman
  5. a man Min Aṣḥāb al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ When two inviters meet, answer the one whose door is nearer, for the one whose door is nearer is the nearer neighbor. If one of them has preceded, then answer the one who preceded.
