✧ They sent me from Mah to Kufa to buy mounts. We came to Kunasa, and there was a man wearing a gathered garment. My companion went off to the mounts, but I went to him and found he was Hudhayfah. I heard him say: 'The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to ask him about good, but I used to ask him about evil.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, will there be evil after this good as there was evil before it?' He said: 'Yes.' I said: 'What is protection from it?' He said: 'The sword.' I think Abu al-Tayyah says: 'The sword,' I think. He said: I said: 'Then what?' He said: 'Then there will be a truce upon corruption.' He said: I said: 'Then what?' He said: 'Then there will be callers to misguidance. If you see on that day a caliph of Allah on earth, then stay close to him, even if he wears down your body and takes your wealth. If you do not see him, then flee in the land, even if you die while biting onto the root of a tree.' He said: I said: 'Then what?' He said: 'Then the Dajjal will emerge.' He said: I said: 'With what does he come?' He said: 'With a river — or he said water — and fire. Whoever enters his river, his reward is removed and his sin becomes binding, and whoever enters his fire, his reward becomes binding and his sin is removed.' He said: I said: 'Then what?' He said: 'If you were to breed a mare, you would not ride her foal until the Hour stands.'
