✧ Hudhayfah b. al-Yaman about the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ كَيْسَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو إِدْرِيسَ عَائِذُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ سَمِعْتُ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنَ الْيَمَانِ يَقُولُ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ النَّاسِ بِكُلِّ فِتْنَةٍ هِيَ كَائِنَةٌ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ السَّاعَةِ وَمَا ذَلِكَ
أَنْ يَكُونَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَدَّثَنِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا أَسَرَّهُ إِلَيَّ لَمْ يَكُنْ حَدَّثَ بِهِ غَيْرِي وَلَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ مَجْلِسًا أَنَا فِيهِ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْفِتَنِ وَهُوَ يَعُدُّ الْفِتَنَ فِيهِنَّ ثَلَاثٌ لَا يَذَرْنَ شَيْئًا مِنْهُنَّ كَرِيَاحِ الصَّيْفِ مِنْهَا صِغَارٌ وَمِنْهَا كِبَارٌ قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ فَذَهَبَ أُولَئِكَ الرَّهْطُ كُلُّهُمْ غَيْرِي

✧ It is not that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me something of that in secret to me alone, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said while addressing a gathering in which I was present, when he was asked about tribulations, and he enumerated the tribulations, among them three that leave nothing of them, like the winds of summer, some small and some large. Hudhayfah said: Then all those people went away except me.
