حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَتَوَضَّأُ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ تَوَضَّأَ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، وَصَلَّى الصَّلَوَاتِ بِوُضُوءٍ وَاحِدٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ فَعَلْتَ شَيْئًا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَفْعَلُهُ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي عَمْدًا فَعَلْتُهُ يَا عُمَرُ
Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ used to perform ablution for every prayer. On the day of the conquest, he performed ablution, wiped over his leather socks, and prayed the prayers with a single ablution. Umar said to him, 'O Messenger of Allah, you have done something you did not used to do?' He said, 'I did it deliberately, O Umar.'
