حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ
أَنَّ أَبَا مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيَّ لَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَالَ: يَا سَامِعَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ مِنْكُمُ الْغَائِبَ، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: حُلْوَةُ الدُّنْيَا مُرَّةُ الْآخِرَةِ، وَمُرَّةُ الدُّنْيَا حُلْوَةُ الْآخِرَةِ
Translation

✧ "When Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari was approached by death, he said, 'O listeners from the Ash'ariyyin, let the witness among you convey to the absent one that I have heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, saying: The sweetness of this worldly life is the bitterness of the hereafter, and the bitterness of this worldly life is the sweetness of the hereafter.'"
