Musnad Ahmad 22871

Translation

✧ By Allah, I know from which wood it is, and I know who made it, and on which day it was made, and on which day it was placed. I saw the Prophet ﷺ on the first day he sat on it. The Prophet ﷺ sent to a woman who had a carpenter slave, and said to her, "Order your carpenter slave to make for me wooden pieces on which I can sit when I speak to the people." So she ordered him, and he went to the thicket and cut tamarisk wood and made the pulpit with three steps. She sent it to the Prophet ﷺ, and it was placed in this place that you see. He sat on it the first day it was placed, and he said the takbir on it, then bowed, then descended backward and prostrated, and the people prostrated with him. Then he returned until he finished. When he finished, he said, "O people, I did this only so that you may follow me and learn my prayer." It was said to Sahl, "Was there anything about the stump as people say?" He said, "There was what there was."
