حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنْ سِتْرِ حُجْرَةٍ وَفِي يَدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِدْرًى فَقَالَ لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا يَنْظُرُنِي حَتَّى آتِيَهُ لَطَعَنْتُ بِالْمِدْرَى فِي عَيْنِهِ وَهَلْ جُعِلَ الِاسْتِئْذَانُ إِلَّا مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَصَرِ

Translation

✧ That a man looked into the Prophet's ﷺ chamber from behind a curtain, and in the Prophet's ﷺ hand was a small iron comb. He said: If I knew that this one was looking at me until I came to him, I would have stabbed his eye with the comb. And was permission to enter made obligatory except for the sake of the gaze?
