حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

- أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ اخْتَصَمَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمُدَّعِيَ الْبَيِّنَةَ، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ بَيِّنَةٌ. فَاسْتَحْلَفَ الْمَطْلُوبَ، فَحَلَفَ بِاللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّكَ قَدْ فَعَلْتَ، وَلَكِنْ غُفِرَ لَكَ بِإِخْلَاصِكَ قَوْلَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ

✧ Two men brought a dispute to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ asked the claimant to produce evidence, but he had no evidence. Then he asked the defendant to take an oath, and he swore by God, besides whom there is no god. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: You have indeed done it, but you are forgiven because of your sincere saying: there is no god but God.
