✧ God, Mighty and Majestic, declared Makkah sacred. It was not made lawful to anyone before me, and it will not be made lawful to anyone after me. It was only made lawful to me for an hour of a day. Its fresh herbage shall not be cut, its trees shall not be cut down, its game shall not be disturbed, and its lost property shall not be picked up except by one who announces it. Al-ʿAbbās said: Except the sweet rush, for our goldsmiths and our graves. He said: Except the sweet rush.
