حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ الْمُعَطَّلِ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ

كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَرَمَقْتُ صَلَاتَهُ لَيْلَةً فَصَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ، ثُمَّ نَامَ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ نِصْفُ اللَّيْلِ اسْتَيْقَظَ، فَتَلَا الْآيَاتِ الْعَشْرَ، آخِرَ سُورَةِ آلِ عِمْرَانَ ثُمَّ تَسَوَّكَ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَلَا أَدْرِي أَقِيَامُهُ أَمْ رُكُوعُهُ أَمْ سُجُودُهُ أَطْوَلُ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَنَامَ، ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَتَلَا الْآيَاتِ، ثُمَّ تَسَوَّكَ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، لَا أَدْرِي أَقِيَامُهُ أَمْ رُكُوعُهُ أَمْ سُجُودُهُ أَطْوَلُ؟ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ فَنَامَ، ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَزَلْ يَفْعَلُ كَمَا فَعَلَ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ حَتَّى صَلَّى إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً

✧ I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, and I observed his prayer at night. He prayed the late evening prayer, then slept. When half the night had passed, he woke up, recited the ten verses at the end of Surah Al 'Imran, then used the tooth-stick, then performed ablution, then stood and prayed two rak'ahs. I do not know whether his standing, bowing, or prostration was longer. Then he left and slept. Then he woke up, recited the verses, then used the tooth-stick, then performed ablution, then stood and prayed two rak'ahs. I do not know whether his standing, bowing, or prostration was longer. Then he left and slept. Then he woke up and did that, and he continued doing as he did the first time until he had prayed eleven rak'ahs.
