حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ بِنَا فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ، وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا، وَيُطَوِّلُ فِي الْأُولَى، وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ، وَكَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ، يُطَوِّلُ فِي الْأُولَى، وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ، وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِنَا فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to recite with us in the first two rak'ahs of the Zuhr prayer, and sometimes make us hear a verse. He would lengthen the first and shorten the second, and he did the same in the Fajr prayer: lengthen the first and shorten the second. And he used to recite with us in the first two rak'ahs of the Asr prayer.
