✧ My father, Qatadah al-Ansari

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ

إِنَّ الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةَ مِنَ اللهِ، وَالْحُلُمَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ، فَإِذَا حَلَمَ أَحَدُكُمْ حُلْمًا يَخَافُهُ فَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، وَلْيَتَعَوَّذْ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَضُرُّهُ

Translation

✧ A righteous dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan. If one of you has a dream that he fears, let him spit to his left three times and seek refuge in Allah from Satan, for it will not harm him.
