✧ We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his expeditions. A man passed by a cave containing some water. He said to himself that he would stay in that cave, living on the water in it and gathering the wild greens around it, and renounce the world. Then he said: "If I were to go to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ and mention that to him, if he permits me I will do it, otherwise I will not." So he came to him and said: "O Prophet of Allah, I passed by a cave containing water and wild greens that would sustain me, and my soul prompted me to stay in it and renounce the world." He said: "The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I was not sent with Judaism or Christianity, but I was sent with the tolerant ḥanīfiyyah. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muḥammad, a morning or evening expedition in the path of Allah is better than the world and all that is in it, and the standing of one of you in the battle line is better than his prayer for sixty years.'"
