✧ I said to him: “What do you think about the wudu of ‘Abd Allah b. ‘Umar for every prayer, whether he was in a state of purity or not—from whom did he get it?” He said: “Asma’ bt. Zayd b. al-Khattab told him that ‘Abd Allah b. Hanzalah b. Abi ‘Amir [b.] al-Ghasil told her that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command wudu for every prayer, whether in a state of purity or not. When that became difficult for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he commanded the siwak at every prayer, and the wudu was lifted from him except due to ritual impurity.” He said: “So ‘Abd Allah saw that he had strength for that, and he kept doing it until he died.”
