✧ That he heard in the assembly of the Laythīs them mentioning that Sufyān informed them that his horse became exhausted at al-ʿAqīq while he was on an expedition dispatched by the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he returned to him seeking a mount. Sufyān asserted, as they mentioned, that the Prophet ﷺ went out with him looking for a camel, and he did not find one except with Abū Jahm b. Ḥudhayfa al-ʿAdawī, and he bargained with him for it. Abū Jahm said to him: 'I will not sell it to you, O Messenger of God, but take it and mount upon it whomever you wish.' He asserted that he took it from him, then he set out until he reached Biʾr al-Ahāb. He asserted that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Building is about to reach this place, and the Levant is about to be conquered, and men from the people of this town will come to it, and its countryside and its ease will please them, but Madinah is better for them if they only knew. Then Iraq will be conquered, and a people will come migrating, carrying their families and those who obey them, but Madinah is better for them if they only knew. Indeed, Abraham supplicated for the people of Makkah, and I ask God [Blessed and Exalted] to bless us in our ṣāʿ and to bless us in our mudd, like the blessing He gave to the people of Makkah.'
