✧ That Hazzal had hired Ma'iz b. Malik, and Hazzal had a slave girl called Fatimah who had been given in marriage, and she used to tend sheep for them. Ma'iz had intercourse with her, so Hazzal seized him and deceived him, saying: 'Go to the Prophet ﷺ and tell him; perhaps Qur'an will be revealed concerning you.' So the Prophet ﷺ ordered that he be stoned. When the sting of the stones bit him, he ran off, and a man met him with the jawbone of a camel or the leg of a camel and struck him with it, knocking him down. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Woe to you, O Hazzal! If you had concealed him with your garment, it would have been better for you.'
