✧ My brother bequeathed to me a portion of his wealth. I met Abu al-Darda and said: My brother bequeathed to me a portion of his wealth; where should I put it — among the poor, the fighters in the way of God, or the needy? He said: As for me, if it were up to me, I would not prefer anyone over the fighters in the way of God. I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: The likeness of one who frees a slave at death is the likeness of one who gives a gift when he is full.
